Review on Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Enterprise (256GB Storage by Carlos Cardoso

Let's start by saying I bought this Chromebook at a discount ($749 instead of $999). And my needs are basically running Citrix (via a browser or Chrome app) for work and the occasional browsing, reading magazines/books or listening to Spotify. I'm by no means a "power user" although I'm not sure if a Chrome OS user is one. Other than that, it's the BEST CHROMEBOOK I've ever used and more than perfect for my needs. Build: Thing is, it's gorgeous, the materials are really excellent quality, and the red is really cool and not too gaudy as I was a little apprehensive and almost went for the drab gray option - glad I did i did it t. The chrome ring on the outside is also a high-quality eye-catcher that looks good. The OLED is top notch and better than any Chromebook I've seen, at full brightness the colors are insane. That being said, the high resolution and brightness are a huge drain on battery life, so I turned the brightness down most of the time and I don't miss a thing, everything works fine. The touchscreen works great and the stylus allows for very detailed notes/drawings in Canva or other apps. One downside might be the bezel location, there are 3 ultra-thin outer bezels and a large bottom bezel. In tablet mode, the single large bezel works well as a 'stylus' of sorts, but the other sides can't be touched without accidentally swiping the screen, scrolling, clicking a link, etc. This is one at best very minor annoyance. Another small issue is that the resolution is so good that when running Citrix the session appears almost blurry but still workable. On high-resolution Windows machines, Citrix has solved this problem with DPI scaling, but they have yet to master that in Chrome. OS or Chrome web app. Not a Samsung issue, but still part of my experience with the machine, so I thought it was worth mentioning. Performance: This is a BEAST. Chromebooks may not require an Intel i5, but we're here and it's FAST. Scrolling is smooth and even with multiple tabs open I never experienced any lag when playing videos or games. Since there's a lot going on under the hood and there's no fan, I've heard from others that the computer can get very hot under heavy loads - I've rarely encountered that with reasonable processing power and would clarify this if I felt the heat was very slight and by no means intolerable. I think as long as you don't play a lot, develop on Linux or do something really really heavy on the CPU, you'll be fine. In general, a small performance issue is that Android apps don't always work well with Chrome OS and have resizing issues or some lags, but that's not a Samsung issue, it's a Google issue. Battery life: Some people have called this the laptop's Achilles' heel, but I don't have a huge issue. Again, I'm not a real gamer/developer/superuser - I'm Joe Basic using it for admin work and browsing/music/reading. On a typical day with about 70% brightness, I can disconnect at 8am and live until 3 or 4pm before reconnecting, working in Citrix, doing basic tasks in MS Access, Excel, etc. - nothing intense, but it's fairly constant screen time for around 6-7 hours before it starts dropping and I need to connect. Of course, that's not great compared to the 10+ hours at full brightness seen on other Chromebooks, but you're getting more here than the average Chromebook. and this is sort of a concession by Samsung to provide the rest of the goods. All in all, as long as you don't need to be away from your charger for more than 6 hours a day, you shouldn't have a problem. Should You Buy It: If you've read this far and think your needs/uses are similar to mine and you want the most stylish, cool and thin Chromebook, DEFINITELY BUY IT (especially with the discount often shared between Revain, Best Buy and Samsung's own website).
