I use this tool when I need to get problematic values like reflected light. The darkest shadows tend to be easy, as are the lightest ones, but trying to get the correct value for the reflected light can be tricky, and if I don't have those values, my work doesn't look like me . want it to look. Especially with portraits, I have to make sure that all values are correct. This is the third tool I have. Because they're made of thick cardboard, they're short-lived but affordable, so it's a good idea to change them out every few years. I will definitely be laminating it and hope it lasts a long time.
