assembly has advantages and disadvantages. Build quality seems ok, nothing special just ok, at least better than the a6000. Perhaps some of the more expensive options could have had a better finish. I was by no means impressed with the quality, again, it's just ok. The packaging is a small box with a useless screwdriver. I couldn't use it, it just kept bending, I had to use a different screwdriver. There are no instructions, but it is not necessary, everything is very simple. The mounted mount itself feels different depending on the lens used, at least on my specimen. With a 16-50 kit lens it works like any good mount. It's smooth and has a click when it's in place. No movement. However, the first thing I thought about the 18-105 was it's stuck, it's very, very difficult to insert, it clicks, it doesn't move or flex. But it's very, very tight. Too much for my liking. Removing the lens is quite a hassle, but doable. You used to be able to feel a lot of twists and turns with this lens, now it feels very well thought out. If you change lenses a lot maybe it can wear out, I really don't know, my camera is 18-105 99% of the time. Is it worth buying? It depends, I bought it because I usually photograph climbers. So when I had it in the wall with me, I just didn't feel comfortable with the original mount, too flexible. If you're using a small light primer or a kit lens, it doesn't make sense. If you use large lenses, do this.
