These bowls met my expectations. They're perfect for ramen, other pasta dishes, and large custom salads. I wanted melamine because of the light weight. My wife and mother-in-law have arthritis so they are easy to carry around and if they fall on the floor they don't shatter into dozens of sharp pieces of glass or ceramic. The lower weight of the dishwasher baskets is also a big advantage in terms of less wear and tear on the rollers and support arms. They also have a simple and elegant design that I like. No defects such as discoloration or scratches.
