I really believe they don't take the asphalt when you fall. I doubt they'll survive if you fall in soft sand. they are super cheap. Honestly, I wouldn't buy these again. You can buy a decent pair of leather gloves at your local hardware store, they will hold up better. My Wells Lamont mechanic's gloves protect better than those junk piles.
