Light sensor bypass

They, like other similar wireless LED lights, had a big flaw that made them unusable for me. (And I think for some other people too.) They're great in total darkness, but if you want them to illuminate a dim but not completely dark place, they won't turn on due to the ambient light sensor. Not only does this make them useless as an auxiliary light source, but also when grouping, because if one of them is on top of the other(s)'s light sensor, it prevents them from turning on. SOLUTION: Remove the ambient light sensor. See attached photos. It's actually not that hard if you're careful and don't mind that your warranty will likely be voided since you're essentially violating part of it. Also, make sure it's exactly what you want - it'll actually happen every time you feel movement, so make sure it's in a closet or some other place where it isn't triggered by simply walking past it from a distance. Photo 1: With the back plate removed to access the batteries, there are three small Phillips screws. Remove them and carefully separate (there are wires there) the back, which contains the batteries and circuitry, from the front, which is the body and diffuser. Photo 2: You can see two sensors on the circuit board. The larger one is a motion sensor, so leave that alone. (The dome cover may fall off, don't worry it will snap back into place) The smaller sensor visible here in the pincer handle is the ambient light sensor. Be careful not to damage the rest of the board, but with some force because it's a pair of solid wires, just snap off the light sensor. Then just put everything back together. Now you have a light that is sensitive to motion but doesn't glow. sensitive. Again, note that this has to go somewhere, it's not going to happen every time you drop in unless you want it to. It works great for me in a closet with a door and in a downstairs pantry that also has a door. ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION: If you want a brighter light and don't mind spending significantly more, this Mr. Beams is actually designed so that you can easily beat the light sensor. It's also very light - I just got it today and so far I'm loving it! https://www.amazon.com/Mr-Beams-MB990-WHT-02-00-Wireless-Battery/dp/B01IKQDKAM
