Not as good as it gets!

I bought two of these briefcases, one 14" x 20" and one 23" x 31". Items were very well packaged for shipping in a large paper lined box. However, the larger briefcase came with a tear in the top left corner where the lip crease is. I only bought this briefcase after reading mostly positive reviews but I can't say that this briefcase served my purpose, one of which was to store my medical x-rays. However, an X-ray film is significantly heavier than, for example, a leaf or leaves. Paper. So I need to strengthen this portfolio's with silver tape as they are quite fragile, to hold anything other than sheets of regular weight paper and the description that they are made of super strong red fiber is quite an ambiguous and misleading notion as they look more like thick paper. And I agree with another reviewer who described the paper's weight as close to a Manila binder. To be honest I wasn't expecting much for this price but I expected the "red fiber" to be a bit heavier nonetheless. stocks) and if you're looking for protection and don't want your work environment to be warped, this isn't the type of portfolio you're looking for. However, as another reviewer noted, putting a piece of cardboard in the briefcase helps ensure the works don't get warped. Overall I am very disappointed with this product and what is available on the market. I've been holding different types of portfolios for over 25 years and NOW I can't find the type of portfolio I once had. I used to have a large briefcase that was just two pieces of heavy duty cardboard tied together on the sides and top that opened all the way up like a giant clam and didn't stretch out so he would press on the drawings for example and or paper to keeping it flat as opposed to storing it in tubes where the paper will curl. But those were hard and fully protected blueprints and such. However, I have googled and searched endlessly and found nothing comparable to the previous briefcase I owned, which I happily used for over a decade and only discarded when it showed signs of mold or mildew. Sorry I seem to be digressing but if anyone gets what I mean please let me know where I can buy it :-).

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Exorbitant piggy bank
