As advertised but the damper is too strong

I will probably update this review after longer use. I'm totally against stun collars, choke chains and the like, but I have a pit bull who is stubborn and sometimes doesn't listen. He is very sweet but dangerous to other dogs and ultimately to himself if he disobeys. He almost hurt a little puppy during a game yesterday and I decided I had to do something. He wasn't mean, but he just had to learn to obey my commands, even when he was having fun. I hope to stop this quickly, but I felt it was necessary in the short term for his own safety. Just opened today and used for the first time. Of course I tested it on myself first. I refuse to do anything with him that I don't experience myself. The impact was very strong, so I kept it to a minimum. The beep and vibration seemed to bother him and worked well, but when he still wasn't listening I zapped him twice during our walk. Both times he screamed and jumped, becoming very frightened and pretending to betray. But he listened. The reason I felt the need to write this review immediately is because the shock of this collar is too strong. After trying it on myself at various levels, I finally gave up until the 1/100 level. This is the level that made him squeak and jump. I can't imagine how a dog would react to a higher voltage. It was gum growths and all. He weighs about 50 pounds and that was too much for him in his lowest position. I will continue to use it but expect it to respond quickly to beeps or at least vibration to avoid electrocution. Right now my advice is to spend more and get a better, lower tension collar. If you have a small dog, do not buy this collar. It works as advertised but the shock is too strong. Please be nice to your furry friends.
