I bought this camera based on the reviews and am happy but not jumping out of my chair with excitement. I've been using it for about a month, mainly in conditions that suit almost any camera: outdoors in daylight. I mainly used the "Auto" setting, but also experimented with "Program" and some cooler features like video clips (every time you take a picture, a small video is recorded and the value of the day is stitched together). ). What I found: *** GOOD macros. For small shots, it handles macro detail well. Compact. Very small and easy to carry in handbag. Most photos come out quite sharp in good light. You can zoom in on the madness. My results were mixed; Some of the ultra zoom photos came out fine, others are blurry. - Cool features. I haven't played with all of them yet, but there's a nice array of effects and features to try out. *** POOR - Too much noise overall. That's the only big disappointment I have. Enlargement or not, perfect lighting or not, there is too much noise in the photos. (Noise = grainy or discolored areas throughout the photo that are visible when you then view the photo on a computer monitor. This is most noticeable when you enlarge and zoom in on the photo on the computer screen.) I got from "fine" to "superfine" and it helped, but not very much. - The buttons are not very intuitive. I constantly have to stop and think to remember how to delete a photo, for example. - Treats moving objects unreliably. It's not *bad* about it, but it's not particularly good either. My daughter is a constantly moving subject, so she often looks blurry in photos. The battery needs to be charged every day when I'm actively photographing. in the same price range that takes sharper photos.
