I wear these while paddleboarding in the fridge mountain waters of colorado. I got sick before I got these because of cold wet feet, wind, and chilly air. Now with these, I don't have to worry about keeping my feet dry and warm, the socks takes care of it all. And they're hardy little guys. I use them on concrete, sand, rocks, lawn, twigs and whatnot. I don't abuse them, but it's nice they can handle themselves and I don't have to worry about them too much. I also like the rubber stickies on the bottom. They help me keep traction on my SUP
