I am a US citizen living in Brazil. All of my work laptops, iPads, iPhones, etc. use a US outlet. This device is important because it is two volts. SOME STATES OF BRAZIL USE 220V, OTHERS USE 110V FOR THE SAME SOCKET. This device converts automatically so you don't fry your devices. The older system uses 2 pins (also included) but the 2 pin adapter still fits into a 3 pin socket. Most modern buildings use 3 pins, but the voltage varies depending on the city you are in. This device is compatible with all of the above. I bought two of these. One powers my laptop, the second monitor charges my iPhone and powers my iPad thanks to the USB/USB-C ports.
