Decent tripod, trash head

I bought this tripod to replace a very similar one I lost on the river. While there are many options that are about the same, I chose this one because it has a shorter middle stem, allowing you to drop it lower without removing the stem and hanging the camera upside down. Overall this tripod seems to have a slightly better build quality than the previous one and it would easily have earned 5 stars if it had had a better ball head. While it seems sturdy and I'm not worried about it dropping my camera, it stays in place every time I tighten it. This makes it tricky to set up and a bit unnerving, and also makes smooth panning of the video downright impossible. It may become smoother with use, but it will never be good. Even though I had to order a replacement ball head, the tripod is still expensive and I don't regret the purchase. Thanks to the price and the shorter center bar, it's still worth it even after buying a new head. 4 stars.
