I mean standing. Specifically, the part that connects to the monitor screen itself. My goal when purchasing it was to use it in portrait mode, not landscape mode. I removed 4 bolts in 2 places on the stem but it was almost useless as it didn't do anything. Too bad I didn't know that beforehand. There is no other way to remove it (scoured the web - just to find solutions for other models) other than sawing it out. This is now my next step.&%##@! OK! UPDATE: Sawed off (a lot of handsaw work) so it's now free of the stem mount. Another downside is that it needs to switch from DC to AC, which is why it comes with an AC adapter. If you're traveling with a monitor like I am, this is no good.
