If it were possible to put it without starts, I would say so. I bought this for my bedroom and it is literally the hardest thing to build. It was very very confusing and the directions weren't clear at all. There are connectors that are difficult to connect and hard to hide. The chords on this thing are funny. The main chord is too short and there are too many unnecessary additional chords. This makes it difficult to hide chords. It comes with extra parts and the instructions don't even tell you what to do with it. It took me 3 hours to assemble and connect everything. For some reason the remote control doesn't work with the backlight. I pressed the auto button and it worked and then it blinked red and wouldn't stop blinking red and it stayed that way. The board crashes by itself. The music setting does not work well. This product is not worth the money I paid for it. If I worked for this company I would sell it as one large band and customers could supply custom size and the company would have to make it an easy chord with an easy to use remote control. Additional note: the stripes have a slight but noticeable color difference. For example, when I press the purple button, some bars become more grey-purple and some bars become brighter purple. These lights are too uncomfortable.
