Problematic Design or Execution

Unpack: Nicely packaged and looks good on the table. The cap of the bottle is a brown digital camouflage. Only one ticket for your deployment in Afghanistan or Iraq. There are not many vacationers and tourists. Not good for the Pacific Northwest. The metal parts look premium. The first thing I noticed when I opened the cap of the bottle was that it was a cork, not a cap, and it had rough carvings. A thin thread will allow you to turn with difficulty, but a coarse thread will not. The second thing I noticed was that (EPIC FAIL #1) the silicone o-ring fell out. Lose this and the water will wash over you as you move. Replacement O-ring not included. The hip flask cup looks high quality and goes well with the hip flask. The handles are quite flimsy but should hold up well as they are titanium. When you put the bottle and mug in the lid, you have to push and wiggle a little to get something in. Removing the cup also requires two hands. There is a pocket in the lid for the top of the mug. The pouch has two Molle compatible straps to hold the backpack. Locks don't have a strong "lock" which makes you unsure if they are secure. Don't skimp on materials. I would not recommend using it on a belt loop as the straps are designed for a double molle attachment and who of us wears a 4 inch belt. The real problem lies in the design/implementation of the case (EPIC FAIL #2). Once you place the bottle and mug in the case, the top strap is 1 inch shorter and you cannot close the clasp. The Y-piece or zip tie will not fit over the sides of the bottle cap, with or without the stopper installed. Leaving the cup outside makes no difference, nor does turning the hip flask 180 degrees. Conclusion: If you don't empty the hip flask and stow it in your backpack, I can't recommend a hip flask set. I only looked at the back of the box. Made in China. 'Enough.
