I'll say right away that I hate cutting watermelons! I usually wait for my sister to come and she will cut it for me. I bought this knife for cutting watermelon and I was waiting for a watermelon. When my sister got it I showed it to her and she kind of giggled what the heck is going to happen. Later we started using the slicer/cube in a cute way and she was just as impressed as I was. She didn't have time, so I let her leave half the watermelon for me. I can give my mom (who loves watermelons) as much watermelon as she can eat right now! No wasted melon either!
