They're great for camping on wheels - they're light, strong and microwavable. All of this is a huge plus when it comes to limited RV space and multi-purpose needs. I've had great melamine tops in the past - lightweight and fairly durable, but they can't be microwaved and tend to deteriorate with years and use. Melamine also stains and scratches easily, making them unsightly after a while. These wheat straw dishes are great - they're lightweight, durable, and microwave safe. They do not stain and do not fade after use, they are easy to wash. This set in particular is really good - it feels good and they fold together safely and neatly. We have two for 8 and they fit nicely in a small section of our RV's closet. Very happy with them.
