As a newbie to machine embroidery, I was nervous about buying thread with such conflicting reviews. I was concerned that my limited abilities would require as few obstacles to success as possible. But every time I did the math, the cost of the competing stream tripled. So I did a little research, read other reviews and found: 1. Glossy polyester thread is silky and smooth. That's why it's so pretty on your shirt and also why it's slippery on the roller. You will need a thread net to hold it on the spool. My new Singer Futura Quartet comes with 2 thread grids and the instructions you need to use them for embroidery floss. I unrolled the nets and threaded them onto each spool (bottom up) before threading the machine. That works great. The thread comes off like a charm and doesn't unwind everywhere.2. The spool cap MUST be removed before using the spool on the machine. I forgot about it once, and the thread kept breaking. I remove the cap and attach it to the bobbin holder until I'm done sewing. Every embroidery expert talks about how small spools of thread get tangled (or stay twisted) if you don't give them time to unwind. If you give the stream a longer path to unwind before passing your machine, the stream will perform better. As recommended, I bought a Dritz tapered thread retainer; However, I did not use it because Flow Networks solved ALL my problems from day one.4. Threadnet provides a conversion table on its website. So don't worry about which thread color to choose. If you're interested, there's a YouTube video showing how to make your own yarn nets by recycling your support tubing. I haven't tried this, instead I use the same mesh for every roll I put on the machine. For storage, I put a piece of tape on the free end of the thread so it doesn't unravel during storage. Again, the price is unbeatable. Nobody doubted the quality of the thread. I just followed Singer's advice and used a network of threads. I use for every roll I put on the machine, the same network.
