Honestly don't know why this product has such good reviews. Would have returned it had I not already thrown away the packaging. But the guard around the utensil should be moved back a little further. The fork is OK, but it's like way too close on the spoon. The only way he can use the spoon is if he slurps the food in, because the guard is so close he can't wrap his mouth around the spoon. I see merit in the guard, that's why I got this product, but as far as I'm concerned, the guard is far too close on the spoon making it an unpleasant and unproductive experience for my young toddler. Perhaps would work better for a younger baby, but not a good design for my 17 month old.
