The remote control I received was sold new but had many scratches, scuffs and marks. It looks and feels cheap, but I expected the same for $9. This remote did not require any codes for my Samsung TV (one of the compatible models listed) and all the buttons seem to do what they are supposed to. This remote doesn't work very well, requiring long, hard presses on the buttons aimed directly at the sensor for them to engage - as was the case with remotes in the early '90s before they were improved. For $9 it's passable. Replacement for our missing original remote as we only need it to turn the TV on and off and access the settings occasionally, but I wouldn't recommend it (even at this price point) if you use it a lot for volume, channels, etc. .
