Smooth on both sides
I bought two different hats from Amazon and both were smooth on the outside and rough on the inside. This is smooth on both sides. Another issue I've had with others is that they wouldn't stay on my head when I slept, this one stands up but isn't too tight. I like to wear a hat behind my ears and I think I should mention that this hat is not for you if you like wearing it in front of your ears. I got it in white because some of the reviews said it bleeds and it's not a problem for me.
