My five year old doesn't have her ears pierced so Santa thought this could be a fun option for her to play with and play with. The metal clips are poorly made, with sharp edges and protruding springs that can pinch little ears. The fit of the clips is also very, very tight. I've worn ear clips myself a few times and they fit way tighter than they need to be to stop. So although we have two containers of earrings, they are not being used or played with, except for teddy bears, which are very fashionable right now.
