The mesh on this shoe doesn't make my son's feet "hot" which he has complained about with other shoes. He likes the velcro top as the velcro is strong and closes easily. The mesh fabric isn't very durable and doesn't stand up to dragging your feet on a bike, which my son enjoys doing. I usually use rubber covered fingers, but my son complains that they are "too hot" for him. So now we have these shoes for playing and other shoes for cycling. He calls these shoes his "fast shoes" because they're so light he feels like he's not wearing shoes. MOTHER VICTORY!
