Review on Dorman 628 040 Universal Seat Heater by Corey Harris

Really impressed with this product!

After looking at various offers and reviews from Revain I decided to try this product on my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 and was very impressed. Removing the seat covers was fairly easy, and although the instructions say not to trim or trim the heating pads, I cut about 1/2 inch off both sides of each pad. I did this so the velcro panels in the seat foam wouldn't close and the seat cover could be reattached to the velcro strips. I was very careful not to cut the wires in the pads when I cut them (it's pretty easy to see where the wires are in the pads). I had to go to a tool store (tried Home Depot first but they weren't the right size) and bought a 20mm Forstner bit. I completely removed the dash where I drilled a hole and then put a piece of wood behind it to provide some support so the drill wouldn't crack the plastic panel. The 20mm Forstner bit fits perfectly and the switch fits very well. I don't have a fuse box in my truck's cab, so I ran the power and ground wires through the firewall. I placed a ground with another ground wire in the engine bay and used a 10A micro fuse to connect the power wire to the 'free' point in the fuse box. It was a little tricky to plug the adapter that came with the power cord into the fuse box as my truck uses micro fuses. I had to trim the end of the wire tab and then trim it so it was thin enough to fit the fuse holder. The heating pads heat up very quickly and I couldn't be happier. I will be ordering 3 more units for my passenger seat and my wife's car.
