I bought this unit thinking it would be the perfect monitor extension for my laptop. My computer (Acer Aspire e5-576g-5762) has the required USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C interface. The operating system did not recognize the device and would not let me use the VGA monitor as a second monitor. Strangely, the operating system recognized the USB device and the USB keyboard I had plugged into the ports worked. But I could not get the monitor to work with this device. I connected the monitor directly to the laptop's VGA port and it works (in combination) with the laptop monitor. But my goal was to have two separate monitors.
