The level of what is considered "strong" depends on usage, so I compared this bar to 3 other magnets. First, these bars are so strong that I initially thought the spacer between them was some included tape that had melted or had the backing material removed. NO. After ripping them apart with a knife, I found that they were just incredibly strong. They are ideal for tools or knives. I plan to use them in my wooden notebooks for my notes. In the first picture: The vise shown weighs over 1 pound. I need to pull it out of this rod with some force so the magnet can hold more weight. To the right of the key is this bar magnet for reference. To the right of the bar is the ELECFIND brand: 10-8 x 3mm magnets and 10-10 x 2mm magnets. It takes 10 8 x 3mm to hold the same key and the same goes for 10 10 x 2mm. ELECFINDs are also strong, but not as strong as my smaller N48 magnets, 1/4" x 1/16" (6.4mm x 1.6mm). They were insufficient for this test, so they are not shown in the figure. Second picture: I filled a shipping box with wood shavings taped to my fridge with the 2 sticks inside the box. Next to it is a 1/4" thick maple and walnut and a 1/4" thick block of glue, the magnet is strong enough to hold both through the thickness of each. It is impressive.
