Review on Steve Madden Jecntrcq Slip-On Sneakers: Perfect Footwear for Little Kid/Big Kid Trendsetters by Barbara Simmons

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Please note the sizing

These Steve Madden shoes were purchased for an 8 year old girl to use as indoor school shoes. Usually she is 1 or 1.5 but I decided to buy 2 so she can grow into them. On reception she liked the look of the shoes but immediately showed me that her toe was pinched to the end. The shoe is clearly closer to a size 1 or 1.5 than a size 2. Also, the gray fabric on the toe box is very stained, with a portion of fabric sticking out that doesn't appear to be fully 'taped'. at the front of the shoe. As this was already a replacement item for another return I have no intention of returning the item but I think buyers should be aware that they may be small. The only benefit of this shoe is that the insole is made of a durable memory foam lining, which is much more comfortable than another similar pair from a competitor brand. Update: I bought the next size up (2 to 3) and they are still great. I hope that the manufacturer takes note that the sizes are very different from other sellers. The soles of these shoes also seem to be dirt magnets. I understand they are light in color and obviously look dirtier than others, but these get dirty immediately with minimal use by my kids. I'm happy with the price I paid but I think Steve Madden could definitely improve the quality of the sole and the size of the shoe. Update #2: The back of these shoes hurts both of my kids feet. I've given them a chance to be useful, but when I start seeing bubbles, even with kids wearing socks with them, I know they're wrong.

Pros
  • Synthetic sole
Cons
  • Slightly torn
