Review on πŸ“Ί Micca MPLAY-HD Mini: Ultimate Full-HD Digital Media Player for USB Drives and SD Cards by Harry Love

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Features a blue power indicator for the piercing eye. Works with Mac video.

Disadvantages: The Micca MPLAY-HD Mini has a blue power-on LED that is eye-catching. (It should be a red or green LED.) Blue light is distracting. The "Power On" lights should be red or possibly green, NEVER blue. Google > Blue light is bad for your health < and draw your own conclusions. If I could figure out how to open this thing I would investigate how to fix the color of the LED. (Some red translucent band might be in my future.) This player will not fast forward properly when playing ISO or IMG movies. He himself will fall out of fast-forward in just 3-5 seconds. The most annoying thing is trying to find a place in the movie. There may be a problem with other file formats, I haven't checked everything. This problem does not occur when playing Video_TS files. With my Mac I can convert videos from iso or img to Video_TS but I wouldn't want to do this step. Although you can select chapters at the beginning of the video. (It starts just like a DVD or Blu-ray.) Unfortunately, once a video starts, you can't skip to the next chapter by pressing the Next or Previous buttons on the remote. This forces you to use fast-forward. It's not that fun when you're trying to get close to the end of a three-hour movie. Some movies are not the right size on SOME TVs. I had this issue on one of the five TVs I tested. I notice that especially with widescreen films. The remote control has a zoom function. Unfortunately, this makes the image too large. I can adjust it on my home TV. However, hotel TVs often fail and you cannot access these picture features when traveling. Magnification: 1X, 2X, 4X and 8X. You should drop 8X and add 1.5X. Good: no 4GB limit, I play 20GB movies. It does not add "hidden files" (aka ghost files). Mac users with older player versions (Micca Speck G2) will complain about this. I format USB drives as "ExFat" using my Mac's built-in Disk Utility. Unlike Windows, the Mac can handle almost any file format, including the old-fashioned ExFat. (Apple uses APFS for SSDs because it's much more efficient.) Simple menu system. I checked the firmware update. At the time of writing, they are not. My device came with the original release firmware, which is still the current version. Conclusion: This is NOT a replacement for your Oppo multi-region Blu-ray player. However, due to its small size, it can be useful when traveling. The Micca MPLAY-HD Mini could easily get 5 stars if they change the power-on LED to red and fix the above crashes with a firmware update. .The product is made in communist China.
