Lights up blue when plugged in. Other Blue Tooth devices will appear. OK, that's the good part. Now for the rest: I have a new HP machine (desktop) with Win 8.1 and Blue Tooth built in. That was great. I was able to connect to my Samsung G-3 and move pictures forward and backward etc. Wow! Great feature, I think I'll add it to my other computers with one of these. Not right! I've spent hours on this thing trying to get it to work. It will connect and disconnect within 60 seconds. It took an hour or two for the software to install and my computer to unlock. The phone sees, connects normally, but then turns off. I finally have the option to comment, but then I can't move files like I did on another computer. I've tried this on 3 of the 11 computers I have at home. Same results for everyone. You might be able to use a keyboard or something with it, but it's definitely not "full featured" like the unit that came with my HP. It won't do what I needed to do and what my other blue teeth will do. I tried all the software that came with the kit, nothing helped. Oh, and has this software ever been difficult to boot on my Vista computer? It took over an hour and many tries and reboots to get it. Lots of Windows error messages and "Contact manufacturer" messages. Well it was $10 so I didn't lose too much. Sending it back will cost more than it's worth. I spent 10 dollars and three or four hours of my time on this. Next time I want to throw away $10 and three hours, I'll go to the movies and at least have some bang for my buck. It was far less interesting to deal with this device.
