I bought these to attach to the door to keep it closed but it doesn't work for that purpose because I need a magnet on each side (one for the door, one for the cabinet). Rather, it only works if you want the magnet to stick to the steel plate. This is because all magnets have the same polarity, so the threaded insert is always on the same side of the magnet. If I attached it the way I wanted the magnets would repel each other, it seems logical to me that half the magnets should have the same polarity and the other half should have the opposite polarity so they both work to attach to steel objects stick.and plates, as well as stick to each other.While they are magnetic and seem strong enough, in many cases they don't work when you need the extra strength of two magnets.
