POWERTEC 17201 Double Swivel Caster Review

Very good rollers that roll very easily. I placed them under an old granite topped oak table that I am converting into a desk (with a special pine base). The table is very heavy, but they don't even twitch. I have used a Dewalt 1/2 tap to drill holes in yellow pine and it works great.

I've bought these swivels a few times to fit in shopping carts and make moving items around my shop easier. The quality is excellent, but this time, out of two sets of swivels, one set had the wrong nuts. Luckily I had my own 1/2-13 nuts so my efforts didn't stop me.

Wow, that sucks. After the return window, it turned out that the nuts that came with it were the wrong thread, and ripped off the bolt on the way. I'll update the review on the actual quality of the wheels if I manage to use them. First I have to buy all new 1/2"-13 nuts, re-tighten the bolt and try again. It's cheaper to buy good ones than go through all that!

Wheels with great grip! You need to trace the mounting plates. I used a Kason 61780500004 3-1/2"X3-1/2" with 1/2"-13 UNC threaded mounting plates and it worked great. A big advantage over swivel wheels is the ability to adjust the height of the wheel post installation the locks work great and if 2 of the 4 wheels are locked your carriage will not move great for my miter saw table I built.

I've used them to replace cheap plastic casters on an inexpensive convertible hand truck from That Place With The Big Boat Emblem and I think they've greatly improved the utility. I can park the converted block with the casters locked next to the van and it will stay in place while I load it. They are also quieter, a little wider and have a lower rolling resistance than those that came with this handcart as original equipment.

I've wanted to replace the old casters on my Craftsman table saw for a long time. They looked promising due to the locking mechanism compared to side lever locking reels.
