Don't accept a substitute and get advice from a trainer

Herm Sprenger is the undisputed leader, don't settle for less. Please check with a trainer before trying one to ensure proper sizing and use. This collar is a life changing dog walker when used correctly. I'm not a dog trainer myself, I've learned that from our trainer and from my own experience since I've been using the collar successfully. Please note the following: 1) Consult a trainer as there is MUCH more to walking your dog than just putting on a collar. You need to consider the leash used, proper leash hold, leash on leash, how to train your dog to follow, what focus marks go with light tugs on the collar to avoid distractions, etc. Training - it's an investment and too 100% worth getting it right. 2) This is a dog walker training tool. You don't leave it with your dog all day while he roams the house. You don't attach it to a fixed leash in hopes that it will keep your dog from reaching the end of the rope. 3) Size matters. With a collar on a dog, all you have to do is put your hand between the collar and the dog's neck. You should be able to rotate the collar so that the leash snap is up and the collar is tight enough to stay in place, at least when the dog is standing. I see reviews of people suggesting they do it or complaining that they can't just put a collar around a dog's head. This is totally improper use of the collar and will injure your dog and/or allow the dog to break out of the collar.
