Here are the pros and cons at the moment with Hope: PRO: It goes on. That's about twice as much as the Minwax tung oil finish I used. Maybe it's more durable? The time will show. Looks great. Smells great. CONS: Takes more than 1 week to dry in hot/dry weather. Can only be used on bare wood. Mixing with solvent and applying didn't work for me. But applying directly to wood works well. It absorbs quite well when it comes to bare wood. On the packaging of "Nadezhda" it is written that after application, mold can form on the surface. Some other reviewers state that they had this problem. I haven't had this problem before, but it's odd to me that something meant to protect wood could allow mold to grow on it. Anyway, I gave Hope 1 star but upgraded it to 3 stars. When applied directly to bare wood it produces a beautiful non-glossy finish. Emphasizes the texture/character of wood very nicely. What worries me is the mold.
