This tripod is fantastic. I bought a Nikon D7000 on December 26, 2014 and previously bought a $75 tripod here at Revain thinking I could save a few bucks. Well I was wrong. This tripod wasn't strong enough for my DSLR. My photography teacher told the class on the first night not to skimp on a quality tripod and he was 100% right. I chose this tripod and couldn't be happier. It's pretty hard; about 8# and it is very durable. The leg locks are very strong and there is no doubt that they are involved. The tripod is also very tall; In front of the middle pop-up, the height from the ground to the camera plate at the head is 60.25 inches. The head that comes with the kit rotates and tilts very smoothly and silently. If you pull out the center bar and use it horizontally, it's also very strong. I just don't like anything about this tripod, it doesn't cost a penny. I am attaching two shots of the moon taken with my D7000 with a 55-300mm lens. the first photo is with a cheap tripod, and the second is this manfrotto the difference between day and night, the photo with manfrotto is closer cropped and much sharper, and the photo with a cheap tripod is blurry from camera shake, proof in the pudding (or pictures, in this case).
