In terms of price range, I wouldn't rate G-Sync. I expect this monitor to work well with my AMD 5700 XT + FreeSync. The monitor worked really well with the AMD 5700 XT, the effect is really good at Ultra High settings. Make sure to update the 5700 XT driver to the latest version to fix the flickering issue. The color is amazing and I'm very happy with my initial expectations for this monitor in this price range. In terms of HDR, I wouldn't expect any monitor in this price range to do well in early 2020. With that in mind, you really need 600 nits or even 1000 nits in most games to get a visually pleasing HDR effect (not to mention that not all games have good adaptive HDR settings anyway). This is still an evolving technology and I wouldn't dwell too much on that particular topic. One thing that is simple but confuses me a bit is the compatibility as an external laptop monitor. Due to the fact that I'm working from home, I really just want to swap out my laptop and desktop. However, the monitor seems to have a bug in managing the resolution in between. Whenever I plug my laptop back in, it drops the resolution from 1440p (21:9) to a stretched 1080 (16:9). I found that the solution is to change DP 1.2 to 1.1 (or 1.1 to 1.2) to fix the problem.
