Smooth installation up to the point where the block connects to the flange. The instructions do not explicitly state how to do this. There is a large rubber gasket that seals the flange with a device called a pad. If you put this gasket in a groove in the flange, you will never install it. A lock with a metal ring will not drop down far enough to catch the lugs. I spent several hours trying to figure it out. I even had a bottle jack underneath to try and catch the ledges. I removed everything from the sink and checked all the details on the floor. As it turned out, the cushion mount should not be in the groove (in the flange) yet. I reinstalled the flange on the sink and everything underneath. This time the pad holder was not installed completely in the groove, but directly below it. The metal ring used to fortify the village is much lower. He easily caught the tabs while recycling. As I rotated the metal ring to lock it in place, the pillow lifted and fully seated in the indentation. The bottom line is, if you're having trouble connecting the recycle to the mount, no upward force is going to lift those tabs high enough for the metal ring to catch. You need to lower the spot where the mounting pad is. This seems to be the opposite of what logically should be done. Installation issues aside, this seems like a good device. It's not very loud. It's a smaller profile than the Kenmore I had, so the extra room is nice. This disposal has a dishwasher hose connection. A plug is installed so if you don't have a dishwasher you can just leave the plug in. It also has a cable, 3 year warranty and stainless steel wheels. I haven't seen any other device here that has all these features for this price. I give 4 stars. Deducted 1 star due to the complexity of the installation. Let's face it, if you can't install the device, you've ended up in the kitchen sink and possibly the dishwasher! If you follow my advice, the installation will not be difficult. I would buy another one now that I know the trick.
