After a lot of research and time looking for the best display for the Octopi 3D printer controller, I narrowed the options down to a 7 inch or 5 inch display. I tried the 7 inch display first and it worked well, but I found the screen too big and bulky to use as a touch controller with my 3D printer. Fortunately, this is not the case with this display. I bought two of these. , for use with my Raspberry Pi3B and Pi3B+, excellent value for the ease of use it offers. With both orders the displays work as expected. As advertised the board is fully Raspberry Pi compatible out of the box and requires no additional drivers or software installed, just plug it in! The display offers single or multi-touch functionality via a capacitive input. Unlike all other Raspberry Pi displays (with the exception of a 7" RPI display), this board has input AND power supplied via a single DSI ribbon cable to the Pi. No bulky or cumbersome USB or HDMI cables are required, protruding from the side of your Pi, it is powered by the Pi itself. Essentially, this display works the same as the larger, more expensive Raspberry Pi 7 touch display. Finally, the display provides all the necessary hardware to assemble the Pi and display into one compact and simple device. I have two minor problems. The display has hardware and documentation issues. The screen comes assembled and well protected in the box. However, care must be taken when removing the screen from the foam packaging as the touchscreen bezel and LCD are packaged assembled. together, but not firmly connected. That means the display needs either a casing or some sort of tape attached to the edges to hold them together. Screen and Pi in one easy to use device. To be on the safe side, I recommend using some tape along the top and bottom edges, but this isn't necessary with the case. Documentation isn't much since not much is needed. However, the screen provides instructions for setting the display orientation, but doesn't specify how to orient the touch controller. When rotating the screen, use BOTH lines in the Pi config file: display_rotate=2lcd_rotate=2 Overall a great product, works very well and would highly recommend.
