NO POSSIBILITY TO EXPAND THE 8GB FIXED MEMORY, FORCING YOU TO ACCEPT A SUBSCRIPTION.

Ultra small storage space breaks what might otherwise be the Cadillac of digital photo frames. It all started well enough when I originally bought this frame because of its high customer ratings. It was the most expensive photo frame I've ever seen, but my loved ones deserve a Cadillac, don't they? Set up was fairly easy including connecting to a wireless router and in no time I was uploading family photos left and right from my phone and computer using a handy smartphone app and software that synced with this product. a few weeks of use and only because I was viewing my Nixplay account on my computer and not in the smartphone app. I uploaded LESS than 200 PHOTOS but was shocked to see I've already used HALF my frame size! That can't be right? Literally thousands and thousands of photos I wanted to share bothered me! As I dug deeper, I discovered the horrifying truth about Nixplay: a frame only has 8GB of physical memory, and THERE IS NO WAY TO INCREASE IT. To make matters worse, this fact is not revealed anywhere that I could find by browsing the product listing. Literally every other digital photo frame I've looked at has the option to expand storage with SD cards or USB sticks, but not with Nixplay! It's such a standard feature across the board that I just didn't realize it was missing from all of the Nixplay product descriptions. It felt like I had just paid for my new Cadillac and then discovered the gas tank was not included. Finally, here's why it's all: you can get plenty of online storage space and create multiple backup albums. on that tiny 8GB of storage BUT IT IS NOT FREE. Yes, the end goal of this whole setup seems to be to get you to subscribe to "Nixplay Plus," a paid monthly service that you'll have to maintain forever as long as you own your frame. The incredibly high price tag of this frame becomes apparent when you understand the marketing strategy it uses. Most subscription-based marketing plans give you hardware for free or for a fee — think a free cell phone if you sign up for a two-year service plan — and make money off the service you have to subscribe to. Nixplay supports you on both sides, almost forcing you to sign up for a paid plan, but it also charges you for the hardware upfront. Just compare the cost of this frame with the cost of a full-fledged laptop: for about the same price I can get a branded laptop with a large 15-inch screen, a full-featured operating system (which supports various programs for slide shows). , DVD drive and 500GB hard drive - literally 60 times more storage space than this photo frame. Rarely have I felt so taken advantage of. So why so many good reviews? I think it's from clients who were right where I was before I realized I was going to run out of disk space in just two weeks. They drove their gorgeous new Cadillac for days and had a great time, unaware that their 1-gallon gas tank was about to run out. Finally, after a long research, I bought a Pix-Star 15 inch Wi-Fi Cloud. Digital photo frame. This photo frame is bigger, much cheaper, has a great image, and supports external media without having to pay for an online storage plan. I've been using this frame for a few months now and I love it. If I had the option - rather than the almost forced option - to subscribe to a pricing plan, I'd happily keep that Nixplay frame. However, I cannot give more than one star to a product whose INTENDED functionality has compelled me to return it. Buy this product if you want, but remember you will never stop paying for it.
