EliteBook laptops use a 7.4 x 5.0mm jack (both 90W), while Pavilion Gaming laptops use a 4.5 x 3 -Use socket (0.0 mm). . Both work fine. Power is supplied via two wires only; The secret lies in the 1-Wire chip built into the tips. These chips tell the laptop that the charger is "approved" and has enough power. I had a 150 watt Dell PSU with a 7.4 x 5.0mm tip and converter, but the laptop wasn't happy. Tips with this power supply provide the laptop with the right charging data. I have several original 90w PSUs and over time the small wire in the cable seems to have broken and not allowing the PSU to do 8470p rendering them unusable. I bought a second one for the kitchen so I don't have to drag one off my laptop. The flexibility of the two connections is great for me. I can only recommend this power supply!
