They are like the photo, I should have gotten some kind of clasp instead that has to be opened to put on and take off. Because they twist and don't close to anything I had a problem with them getting stuck in my ear because they twisted back and then the end was in my ear and not all the way through the hole so I had to fiddle with them for a while to get it back. I also wish they were cuff-like rather than dangling, but they are sold as nose rings so it's not necessarily their fault. Otherwise I'm happy with them and so far they haven't irritated my ears as mine are very sensitive and I can't wear earrings.
