Review on Wiley Valor Sunglasses: Sporting a Sleek Smoke Matte Design by Elvis Kohl

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Conservatively stylish, fits large heads, impact resistant, interchangeable lenses, inexpensive

After exploring the world of oversized sunglasses for my oversized head (I wear a size 8 hat) and reading many recommendations and reviews, I did I chose Wiley X Valor and it didn't disappoint. However, I wish it had a few extras like a better case. I will not rewrite the promotional text. Let's just say the Wiley X Valor is shockproof and can stop living splinters. It's reminiscent of shield-type sunglasses, but not overly intrusive. I call it "conservatively stylish" in the sense that it's clearly not your typical "aviator" or "wayfarer" and sucks, nor does it scream "dollar shop," but it's not fancy either Color like Oakleys with rainbow mirror lenses. I have a large, round but relatively flat face with relatively high cheekbones, and most of the sunglasses I wear end up hitting my cheeks. Valor is not suitable due to reduced vertical dimensions. Wiley X Valor also accepts interchangeable lenses. There are about 4-5 different colors of WileyX (standard gray, clear, amber, purple, rust), but there are aftermarket manufacturers that make dozens of colors, with or without polarization, etc. And Wiley X is relatively inexpensive. when a typical Oakleys is over $100 even at Revain. The Valor was available for about $55 or so when I bought it. So what's the downside? 1) The included case is VERY basic. He holds glasses, lens cloth and nothing else. It doesn't even have a clip to attach to a backpack and a compartment for extra lenses if you get them later. There seems to be a "luxury" case, but I went ahead and bought another hard case from OneTigris. 2) Now they fit snugly on my temples. I wish they were a bit wider, although they are already quite wide. In general, I like sunglasses, but they have small flaws.
