This is my 37th unit installed on my ceiling. Forget niches This is a thing of the past! If you have a concrete floor, the HVAC ducts and plumbing pipes will be in the attic. This complicates the installation of lighting fixtures. Bananas can usually be installed under ducts and pipes as they are very thin. In addition, along the outer walls you may encounter low rafters that prevent the installation of the cans. Of the 12 lights I installed in a room all but 2 had to be cantilevered due to limited headroom due to low rafters, pipes and ducts! This affects the pattern of the light fixture on the ceiling when you need to dodge these obstacles. Also, a gimbal LED can be used in a flat ceiling and aimed at walls to minimize glare.
