I have to admit, when I first bought these I was quite skeptical about their effectiveness and having recently tried another curling product I was a little worried about buying another large strand of hair would lose. due to tangling or "pulling out" but I have to say this is by far the easiest curling product I've tried. I have a few tips to help you be successful. Wash and condition your hair as usual, towel dry and comb through. Divide your hair into sections and then pin it at the back. This will help keep your hair moisturized and is easy to work with, although it may take a few minutes to get the hang of it. You don't have to use any product, but if you want the curls to last 2-3 days. You can use a light mousse or gel etc. I don't use hair product, I prefer a natural one. Place the curlers on the wand before you start so you can alternate them if you like (unless you want all the curls to go in the same direction). There are a number of fantastic YouTube videos that you can watch that will ensure your success. I usually leave it on for at least 2 hours, but then again, I don't like heating my hair. If you don't mind using a hair dryer, you can definitely use a heating pad and speed up the process. I want to try barrel curls next time!
