This cable *might* be overkill, but I had to run 25 feet of phone cable to get my DSL modem where I wanted and didn't want to. I took a chance with a cheap cable so I bought this one. It's about the thickness of an Ethernet cable, but has RJ11 connectors (standard telephone) on the ends. You can also use this cable for a landline phone, but it will almost certainly be overkill. This cable didn't speed up my DSL connection (I don't have stellar speeds), but it made the connection to my modem more reliable as it no longer seemed like it would drop out from time to time. Whether it was because of that cable or because I no longer had to splice two shorter cables together (which I replaced with this cable to run a single cable to the modem) I don't know, and while it's a little larger than worth a regular phone cord is still a sensible idea and probably not a bad idea if you need to make a long cord like me. I have no issues with the cable itself and it works exactly as intended.
