Review on πŸ”© Ultimate Hex Head Washer: SIMPSON STRONG STN22 R8 for Maximum Strength by Hector Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A new concept that works GREAT!

A nut that works like a (super) washer = great idea! I have used these with 3.5" StrongTie screws on a porch frame with 8x8 PT posts and 4x6 PT joists held together with APL6 and APT6 trim ties and they work and look fine . Raised lips on washers that fit holes on tie rods help the washers self-center in holes in tie rods - it helps if you center the bolt in the nut with the washer in the hole, thread the bolt in, and then hold it in place Washer flush with one hand, screw the screw into the remaining parts of the path. The washer is usually self-centering (but sometimes it isn't, since the bolt has to be loosened and retightened). If you stick the washer "in" the hole, it's a try every time. Time.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
