I used this as a divider for my 20g brooder. The holes in the plate itself are very small, which is a good thing. The problem is the gap between the aquarium and the paneling. You must center this spacer perfectly to get the least amount of clearance on each side. This is not difficult, but the gap is still large enough for young guppy brood to crawl through. I have to keep an eye on everyone to make sure fish of reproductive age don't congregate. 2 month old fry fit. My plan is to get a piece of clear polycarbonate to replace the factory sheet. That way I can place it closer to the tank walls. Or use foam tape for the gap. I'll probably try the foam first. I would just save money and buy a sponge pre-filter instead of buying this if I haven't already.
