I am a 70's kid. I grew up with black lights, black light posters and fluorescent paint. When I first received this black light flashlight, I was dissatisfied with its brightness. I thought about sending it back because it's pretty much useless in natural daylight indoors. You can barely see the beam, and you certainly won't get anything to fluoresce. I just didn't think it was as efficient as I remembered using my 2 foot black fluorescent light. So I decided to compare. I dug up an old black lantern, pocketed it and entered the dark basement. It worked well and made a few things glow with bright fluorescent colors; However, I was tied to a short power cord. Then I tried a new black light flash. It turns out to be a lot brighter than my old light and makes things glow just as well or even better than the old neon light. I was very pleasantly surprised. Combined with the fact that it's portable and very well made, I've decided to keep the new light. Some reviews say the light works better if you wear the yellow goggles that come with the kit; But I couldn't tell much of a difference with or without glasses. I would recommend this light for applications that you need to do after dark or in the dark. Although it's useless during the day.
