We have a self contained cabin and use solar panels and batteries to power some items - lights, CPAP, AM radio etc. These items have 12vdc adapters with car plugs and long cords so we You don't need more than a few inches of cord on the "Car Cigarette Lighter Clip Adapter". This works great on the low amp devices I've tried it on. The only question is "how many amps will this adapter safely handle?" I can't figure out what gauge wire this adapter uses. FWIW the one I received is wired correctly. this. the central pole of the outlet is "positive" and the outer screen of the outlet is "negative".
