This product and some creativity helped us get a ceiling light in our dining room where adding a junction box would be very difficult. The lampshade we bought from the world market fits straight onto the socket (I thought I'd have to get creative but the socket was the perfect size for the lampshade) and I used the clips that came with it to secure the cord to hang on a hook in the ceiling. I used a different hook than the company suggests just to make it look more complete. A 60W LED lamp creates a pleasant atmosphere at night. It might not be bright enough for everyone, but it's definitely an improvement over a floor lamp. The switch is about halfway down the cable. Our cord is hidden behind the curtains and plugged into a switch controlled outlet so we don't even need access to the cord switch. If the switch is in an inconvenient spot for you, you might want to consider buying one. a $20 smart plug and using your phone to turn it on and off. Overall I am very satisfied with this product.
