I added this to my 4 year old bike. It's very easy to install and the metal looks pretty solid. I added some threadlock to the bolt that attaches them to the bike. It's just that extra security that makes me feel better, but it's probably not necessary. The only thing I didn't like was that the wheels themselves are plastic. This includes the wheel itself and the tread. I'm not sure how thick the protectors are. It would be better if the tread might be hard rubber. However, they can work well. The time will show. My 4 year old thought the included watermelon bell was fun.
